OCHA Concerned Over Attacks on Sudan’s Kordofan Killing Hundreds

Khartoum: The United Nations expressed its grave concern over reports of attacks on the Kordofan area in Sudan, which have resulted in the deaths of more than 300 people, including women and children, with many more injured.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in its latest update late Tuesday mentioned that the attacks took place in villages in Bara locality, North Kordofan State, between July 10 and 13.

OCHA highlighted the difficulty in ascertaining the accurate number of civilian casualties as the aggression continues, and communications in the area remain cut off. The attacks have also led to the destruction of homes and the displacement of residents.

The UN office reiterated its condemnation of the killing of civilians and the targeting of infrastructure, including schools, homes, and shelters. It urged all parties involved to honor their commitment to international humanitarian laws.
