Brussels: EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas announced on Monday her expectation that EU member states would soon reach an agreement to ease sanctions imposed on Syria following the fall of the Assad regime. She stressed the importance of reaching a consensus on measures to prevent such attacks. Concerning the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, Kallas anticipated that the European Union would announce new sanctions against Russia.
