Washington: US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is set to embark on a diplomatic tour to Germany, Slovakia, and Hungary next week, as announced by the State Department. This tour will see Rubio attending the 62nd Munich Security Conference and engaging in high-level meetings aimed at strengthening US relations in Central Europe. According to Kuwait News Agency, Deputy Principal Spokesperson for the US Department of State, Tommy Pigott, released a press statement on Monday outlining the itinerary. Rubio's visit to Germany is scheduled from February 13 to 15, where he will participate in the Munich Security Conference. Following this, he will travel to Bratislava, Slovakia, and Budapest, Hungary, from February 15 to 16. In Bratislava, Rubio is expected to meet with senior Slovak government officials. The discussions will focus on advancing shared regional security interests, enhancing bilateral cooperation in nuclear energy, diversifying energy sources, supporting the modernization of the Slovak armed forces, a nd reinforcing Slovakia's commitments to NATO. In Budapest, the US Secretary of State plans to hold meetings with senior Hungarian officials. The agenda includes enhancing bilateral relations, addressing regional issues, and advancing the US-Hungarian energy partnership. The 2026 Munich Security Conference promises to be a significant event, bringing together 65 heads of state and government, more than 90 foreign and defense ministers, and representatives from various international organizations.
