Kuwait city: Kuwait scored 46 out of 100 in the 2025 Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) report issued by Transparency International, maintaining its performance level from the previous year.
According to Kuwait News Agency, in a press statement on Tuesday, the Kuwait Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha) explained that Kuwait ranked 65th out of 182 countries and territories included in the index this year, the same ranking as in 2024. This reflects the stability of Kuwait's position in the international rankings despite the expansion of the index's scope.
Nazaha added that the 2025 results come amidst ongoing international challenges in combating corruption. The global average CPI score is 42 out of 100, marking the lowest level in over a decade. This indicates a worrying downward trend internationally, highlighting the importance of Kuwait maintaining its above-average performance and working towards gradual and sustainable improvement.
The agency affirmed that Kuwait has continued to develop its national integrity system over the past years. This includes strengthening legislative and institutional frameworks, issuing and updating legislation related to conflicts of interest, whistleblower protection, and financial disclosure, along with enhancing transparency in government procedures.
Nazaha stressed that improving Kuwait's ranking in international indicators requires continued joint national efforts. Enhanced integration among relevant entities and the consolidation of governance and transparency principles are crucial for strengthening institutional trust.
