Riyadh: The 21st General Conference of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) commenced in Riyadh, featuring participation from industry leaders, experts, and representatives of international organizations from 173 countries.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the conference is co-organized by UNIDO and the Saudi Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources under the "Global Industry Summit 2025" theme, which focuses on "The power of investment and partnerships to accelerate the Sustainable Development Goals." Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Al-Khorayef addressed the opening session, highlighting that Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 aims to transform the Kingdom into a globally competitive industrial power.
The national strategy for industry has generated over 800 investment opportunities in industries such as electric cars, robotics, and clean energy, with goals extending through 2035. The conference will feature more than 150 speakers, including 20 ministers and 35 CEOs of global corporations, who are expected to discuss sustainable manufacturing, cooperation between industrialized and developing nations, and the empowerment of women and youth in the future of global industry.
The event, held at the King Abdulaziz International Conference Center, is set to continue until November 27. It provides a global platform for shaping the future of sustainable industry and offers a roadmap that links digital transformation, climate action, and economic resilience. The conference aims to unify a comprehensive industrial agenda across emerging and advanced economies.
