UK, Germany, France Urge Iran to Comply with International Nuclear Resolutions

London: The UK, France, and Germany have jointly called on Iran to adhere to international resolutions regarding its nuclear program, emphasizing the importance of avoiding further escalation in the region. In a statement released on Sunday, the Foreign Ministers of the three European nations underscored their commitment to diplomacy in preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the joint statement highlighted the shared objective of the European countries, known as the E3, to ensure that Iran does not seek, acquire, or develop nuclear weapons. The statement referenced the initial agreements, the Joint Plan of Action (JPoA) in 2013 and the subsequent Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPoA) in 2015, which were negotiated alongside the United States, Russia, and China. The E3 justified the activation of the snapback mechanism on August 28, 2025, citing Iran's persistent non-compliance with its JCPoA commitments.

The statement welcomed the reinstatement of several UN Security Council resolutions as of September 27, 2025, including Resolutions 1696, 1737, 1747, 1803, 1835, and 1929. These resolutions, which had been previously lifted under the JCPoA, impose a range of sanctions and restrictive measures in response to Iran's proliferation activities. The E3 urged Iran and all states to fully comply with these resolutions, emphasizing their re-imposition due to Iran's repeated breaches of its commitments to maintain a peaceful nuclear program.

The re-enacted sanctions, which had been suspended since 2015 under the JPoA, took effect on Sunday following allegations that Iran had failed to prevent uranium enrichment and had obstructed the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) from inspecting its nuclear facilities.
