London: UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy announced on Thursday that his office has dispatched a crisis team to India to assist local authorities in the investigation of a plane crash that occurred earlier that day.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) is actively collaborating with Indian authorities to support British nationals and their families affected by the incident. Lammy confirmed the deployment of crisis teams in both Delhi and London to ensure swift assistance.
The crash involved an Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner that was en route to London. The aircraft went down shortly after taking off from Ahmedabad airport in India. Onboard were 169 Indian nationals, 53 British nationals, one Canadian national, and seven Portuguese nationals.
The UK government is prioritizing efforts to provide support to those impacted by the crash, with the crisis teams playing a vital role in coordinating the response and offering necessary assistance.
