UK Defense Ministry Unveils Anti-Laser Technology Project for Satellite Protection

London: Britain Defense Ministry declared on Friday launching a project to develop anti-laser technology to foil bids to damage or disrupt satellites. The ministry said in a statement that the new technology, developed by the UK Space Command, features highly sensitive sensors that can determine the type of laser employed either on the ground or in space; whether it is friendly or hostile too.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the ministry has affirmed that the satellites are crucial for defense, conducting intelligence, surveillance, and monitoring tasks. They also provide instant communications for military platforms, the ministry said.

The announcement also highlighted that twenty percent of the UK's gross domestic product relies on military satellites. The space and defense sectors have secured more than 42 billion sterling pounds (USD 56.5 billion dollars) for the British economy, with a 64 percent rise over the past ten years.
