Washington: US President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Friday, instituting a new 10 percent tariff on "all countries." This move comes in the wake of a Supreme Court ruling that invalidated tariffs he had implemented in early April of the previous year.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Trump announced the new tariffs via a post on the social media platform Truth Social, stating, "It is my great honor to have just signed, from the Oval Office, a global 10 percent tariff on all countries, which will be effective almost immediately." Earlier that day, the Supreme Court struck down the earlier tariffs, a decision that many see as a significant blow to Trump's international trade policies.
Trump expressed his disapproval of the Court's decision, labeling it as "disgraceful," and assured that he has "stronger alternatives" than the legal authority used last year to enforce the global tariffs.
