Damascus: Syrian President Ahmad Al-Sharaa stated on Thursday that the Israeli occupation forces are actively working to destabilize Syria, aiming to create chaos and dismantle the unity of its people, a situation that has persisted since the fall of the former regime.
According to Kuwait News Agency, in a televised address, President Al-Sharaa emphasized that the Syrian populace is acutely aware of those attempting to incite conflict and division within the country. He asserted that Syria will not allow itself to be drawn into a war instigated by external forces on its own soil. The president articulated that the ongoing conflict serves no purpose other than to devastate the nation and redirect efforts towards chaos and destruction. He reiterated that Syria should not be used as a testing ground for foreign conspiracies or as a battleground for external ambitions at the expense of Syrian lives.
President Al-Sharaa called for unity among all Syrians, highlighting that Syria is a state for everyone. It embodies the dignity and pride of the nation, and it is the collective dream of Syrians to see their homeland rebuild itself through the strength of this unity. He urged the Syrian people to come together without discrimination to restore the country's prestige and position it among nations that enjoy security and stability.
Addressing the Druze community specifically, President Al-Sharaa affirmed that they are an integral part of the nation and insisted that Syria will not become a place of division among its people. He emphasized his commitment to protecting rights and freedoms while rejecting any efforts to tarnish Syria's image and diversity.
The president also spotlighted the presence of outlaw groups that thrive on chaos and incite sedition, noting that the leaders of these groups have consistently refused dialogue in favor of pursuing narrow personal interests at the expense of national unity. Recently, these groups have been responsible for crimes against civilians, further exacerbating the situation.
In response to the unrest, the Ministries of Defense and Interior have initiated a broad deployment in the Sweida Governorate to maintain security and restore stability, despite interventions from the Israeli occupation. President Al-Sharaa announced that a careful decision has been made to assign local factions and elders the responsibility of maintaining security in Sweida, prioritizing the supreme national interest and the safety of the Syrian people.
