Irbil: The Directorate General of Counter Terrorism (CTD) in the Kurdistan Region announced on Thursday the fall of an explosive-laden drone near Irbil, with no casualties reported. In a statement, the directorate said the drone crashed in the early hours of Thursday. The incident caused no human or material losses.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) in the Kurdistan Regional Government announced that an explosive drone targeted the American-operated "Hunt Oil" field in Duhok governorate on Wednesday. The ministry confirmed this was the second such attack in recent days, resulting in material damage only and no casualties.
Due to repeated drone attacks on oil installations, the Association of the Petroleum Industry of Kurdistan warned that such incidents have led to a halt in the production of approximately 200,000 barrels of oil per day. Kurdistan crude oil exports have been suspended since March 25, 2023, following a ruling by the International Arbitration Court in Paris in response to a complaint filed by the federal government in Baghdad.
