Damascus: The Syrian Presidency announced Monday that Syrian Transitional President Ahmad Al-Sharaa signed an agreement to integrate the Syrian Democratic Forces into the Syrian state institutions.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) published the text of the agreement signed by Al-Sharaa with the commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces, Mazloum Abdi, which stipulates a ceasefire throughout Syrian territory. The agreement outlines the integration of all civil and military institutions in northeastern Syria into the administration of the Syrian state, including border crossings, the airport, and oil and gas fields. It guarantees the rights of all Syrians to representation and participation in the political process and state institutions based on competence, irrespective of religious and ethnic backgrounds.
The agreement further acknowledges the Kurdish community as an indigenous part of the Syrian state, ensuring their right to citizenship and all constitutional rights. It also calls for the return of displaced Syrians to their hometowns and villages, ensuring their protection, and supporting the Syrian state in combating remnants of the former regime of President Bashar Al-Assad, including threats to state security. The document rejects calls for division, hate speech, and attempts to create discord among Syrian society’s various components.
The agreement’s eighth clause sets a deadline for executive committees to implement all its provisions before the end of this year.
