Seoul: South Korean Unification Minister Chung Dong-young stated that the government aims to implement its North Korea policy in a peaceful and gradual manner.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Minister Chung emphasized during a meeting with Kim Jong-hyuk, president of the United Christian Churches of Korea, that the government avoids radical policies to prevent public animosity. He highlighted that shocking or radical methods are not considered in their approach towards North Korea policy.
The government has adopted three key principles for its North Korea policy-peaceful, phased, and gradual approaches-carried over from previous administrations. South Korean President Lee Jae Myung has committed to resuming dialogue and reconciliation with North Korea since assuming office in June.
Additionally, the Defense Ministry recently proposed military talks with North Korea to discuss the clarification of the Military Demarcation Line to prevent accidental clashes at the border. However, there has been no response from Pyongyang regarding this proposal.
