New york: Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan expressed strong criticism of the international community's inaction in the face of Israeli violations, stating that this negligence could lead to instability both regionally and globally. During his speech at the general debate of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, Prince Faisal emphasized the urgent need for decisive action.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Prince Faisal highlighted the severe humanitarian crisis and suffering faced by the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, which he argued violates the principles of international law. He described the actions of the occupying authorities as "barbaric," citing starvation, forced displacement, and systematic killing, and called for the international community to take serious action to halt the aggression and ensure sustainable humanitarian aid.
Prince Faisal urged the international community to find a just and lasting solution to the Palestinian issue. He praised the UN General Assembly's adoption of the New York Declaration on the Peaceful Settlement of the Palestinian Issue and noted the growing recognition of the State of Palestine by various countries as vital steps toward a two-state solution and a just peace process.
The Saudi Foreign Minister also called upon all nations to recognize the State of Palestine and to support the implementation of the two-state solution. He affirmed Saudi Arabia's commitment to fostering good-neighborly relations, respecting state sovereignty, and contributing to efforts aimed at de-escalating tensions and promoting peace in the region.
In his address, Prince Faisal condemned Iranian aggression against Qatar, which he stated contradicts efforts to foster good-neighborly relations. He also condemned ongoing Israeli aggression in the region, particularly highlighting a recent attack on Qatar. Furthermore, he stressed the importance of upholding the non-proliferation regime and establishing a "weapons of mass destruction-free zone in the Middle East," while supporting the right of states to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes in line with international regulations.
