Kuwait city: Saudi Arabia's unemployment rate among Saudis saw a record 6.3 percent decline in the first quarter of 2025, while women's participation in the workforce surged to 36.3 percent, said Saudi General Authority for Statistics on Sunday.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the authority noted that the overall unemployment rate reached 2.8 percent, while the overall labor force participation rate reached 68.2 percent. Additionally, the Saudi labor force participation rate rose to 51.3 percent compared to the fourth quarter of 2024.
The authority indicated that women's empowerment initiatives have effectively contributed to increasing their economic participation, with the rate of Saudi women's participation in the workforce rising to 36.3 percent and the unemployment rate among them declining to 10.5 percent compared to the previous quarter.
It stated that the most commonly used job search method was approaching employers directly, at 75.8 percent, followed by using the unified national employment platform (Jadaraat), at 74.6 percent, and then posting or updating a CV on business social media sites, at 64.5 percent.
