RIYADH: Saudi Arabia has commenced a humanitarian air bridge to Syria, aiming to deliver essential supplies such as food, shelter, and medical items. This initiative, launched by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, marks a significant effort in addressing the critical needs of the Syrian population.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the first flight departed from King Khalid International Airport en route to Damascus, carrying a substantial shipment of aid materials. This operation is part of a broader humanitarian effort, with plans to establish a land bridge in the coming days to further support the delivery of assistance to those in need.
In a statement provided to the Saudi Press Agency, Dr. Abdullah al-Rabeeah, Supervisor General of the KS Relief, emphasized the importance of this mission, highlighting the continuous commitment of Saudi Arabia to support the Syrian people. Since 2011, the kingdom has contributed a total of USD 857 million in aid, underscoring its long-standing dedication to humanitarian efforts in the region.
