Russian Ambassador Commends Kuwait’s Balanced Foreign Policy

Kuwait City: Russian Ambassador to Kuwait Vladimir Zheltov has lauded the "solid and historic" relations between Russia and Kuwait, emphasizing their foundation on mutual understanding, respect, and common interests. In a speech delivered during a ceremony hosted by the Russian embassy, Ambassador Zheltov highlighted Kuwait's balanced approach to regional and international issues, attributing it to the country's wise leadership.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the event was attended by Kuwait's Assistant Foreign Minister for European Affairs, Sadiq Marafi, along with several senior diplomats and dignitaries, in celebration of Russia's national day. Ambassador Zheltov noted that Kuwait was the first GCC country to establish diplomatic relations with Russia in 1963, and he recalled historical milestones dating back to the early twentieth century when Russian ships visited Kuwait during Sheikh Mubarak's reign. He further remarked that Russia's national day, despite being celebrated for only 35 years, connects the present to a history rich with over a thousand years.

On the sidelines of the ceremony, Sadiq Marafi shared with the press his optimism for future cooperation between the two nations, acknowledging the longstanding relations since 1963. Addressing investment opportunities, Ambassador Marafi announced that a joint committee would meet during the upcoming energy summit to explore potential investments, highlighting the "noble growth in tourism between the two countries in recent years."
