Qatari Prime Minister Reaffirms Commitment to Gaza Ceasefire with Egypt and U.S. Partners

Doha: Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammad bin Abdurrahman has reiterated his country’s commitment to working with partners in Egypt and the United States to advance the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of implementing the full agreement, which includes the release of hostages and the withdrawal of Israeli forces.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Sheikh Mohammad expressed Qatar’s dedication to the ceasefire during a press conference with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in Doha. He highlighted the importance of regional and international cooperation to ensure the deal’s success, which initially took effect on January 19. Furthermore, he condemned the use of starvation and humanitarian aid as weapons against Palestinians in Gaza and underscored Qatar’s ongoing efforts to end the conflict.

Sheikh Mohammad voiced concern over the potential collapse of the ceasefire due to Israeli military actions, which have exacerbated the suffering of over two million Palestinians. He also discussed the situation in Syria, welcoming efforts to foster unity among Syrian factions and advocating for national peace and stability. Qatar, he assured, remains committed to working with allied nations to support peace initiatives in Syria.

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan echoed these sentiments, highlighting the strategic cooperation between Qatar and Turkiye in promoting regional stability. He emphasized the urgency of reinstating the ceasefire in Gaza and called for increased pressure on Israel to comply with the agreement. On Syria, Fidan criticized existing sanctions, arguing they hinder the country’s stability and promised to collaborate with Qatar and other partners to seek their removal.
