Moscow: President Vladimir Putin and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi engaged in discussions on the alarming situation in the Middle East and the potential dangers of a widespread regional conflict.
According to Kuwait News Agency, during their talks in Moscow, Putin condemned the aggression on Iran, labeling it as baseless. He emphasized that Araghchi's visit presented an opportunity to seek a resolution to the conflict, which poses a threat not only to the region but also to global stability.
Araghchi highlighted the ongoing coordination between Russia and Iran on matters with global security implications. He denounced the Israeli occupation and US actions against Iran as illegitimate, asserting Iran's right to defend its sovereignty. Araghchi expressed appreciation for Moscow's support and condemnation of the attacks by Israel and the US.
The Iranian Foreign Minister arrived in Moscow to engage in discussions on the Israeli occupation and US actions, particularly concerning nuclear facilities. Araghchi noted that Tehran and Moscow were anticipating negotiations with Washington on Iran's nuclear program. However, the situation was altered by the Israeli occupation's aggression on June 13 and a subsequent US attack.
The US conducted a military strike on three Iranian nuclear facilities, which President Donald Trump described as a success. Araghchi's Moscow visit was announced during his participation in the OIC Foreign Ministers meeting in Istanbul, aimed at coordinating Iran and Russia's strategic partnership.
