Vienna: The ninth OPEC International Seminar kicked off Wednesday, uniting oil ministers from OPEC and non-OPEC countries with global energy experts for a two-day event focused on major challenges and developments in the energy sector.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the event attracts ministers from OPEC and partner countries, along with energy producers and consumers, CEOs, international organization heads, academics, and journalists from across the global energy sector.
Since its 2001 launch, the seminar has expanded in scope and influence, featuring high-level speakers who address strategic energy topics and promote dialogue through presentations and panels on short- and long-term challenges.
The seminar's expanded focus on finance, sustainability, and the environment has boosted its global standing, with participation growing from 200 in 1978 to over 1,000 in 2023, including ministers, CEOs, and global leaders.
The 2025 edition will take place from July 9 to 10 at Vienna's historic Hofburg Palace under the theme "Towards a Sustainable and Inclusive Energy Future." OPEC Secretary General Haitham Al-Ghais highlighted the seminar's global stature, citing its high-level participants, insightful discussions, and welcoming atmosphere ahead of the July 2025 event in Vienna.
