OIC Deplores Trump’s Palestinian Resettlement Comments

Kuwait City: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned on Wednesday the recent comments by US President Donald Trump on a plan to resettle the Palestinians outside of the Gaza Strip, while cutting the US aid to the UNRWA.

According to Kuwait News Agency, these remarks are tantamount to a show of support for the "forcible seizure" of Palestinian lands, while simultaneously contravening internationally-recognized laws and principles, including UN Security Resolution 2334, which has rendered Israeli settlement activities as a "flagrant violation" of such laws, the Jeddah-based bloc said in a statement.

It went on to slam any effort aiming to alter the "demographic or geographic" status quo in the Palestinian enclave, pressing the international community to intervene and ensure a stringent Gaza ceasefire that would allow the unimpeded delivery of aid for the Palestinians.

In a press conference alongside Israeli occupation's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump referred to a plan that would allow the US to take over "long-term ownership of Gaza," including relocating the entire Gaza population out of the enclave, which sparked global outrage.
