The OIC stated that the use of the veto power challenges the will of the international community and encourages Israeli occupation authorities to commit further actions against the Palestinian people. According to Kuwait News Agency, the OIC emphasized that the repeated use of the veto in situations involving genocide underscores the necessity of reforming the UNSC system. The current system is seen as inadequate in fulfilling its responsibilities to protect international peace and security, as highlighted in the OIC's statement. The OIC reiterated its call for a UNSC resolution that would enforce an immediate, durable, and unconditional ceasefire in Gaza under Chapter VII of the UN Charter. This call comes amidst ongoing conflict and humanitarian concerns in the region. Earlier today, 10 members of the UNSC presented the draft resolution, which received support from 14 of the Council's 15 members. However, the resolution was ultimately thwarted by the US veto, preventing its adoption.
