Libya PM Underlines Int’l Partnerships as Top Priority

Tripoli: Libyan Prime Minister Abdulhamid Al-Dbeibeh emphasized that his government is prioritizing expanded international partnerships, with a focus on achieving concrete outcomes to enhance national economic stability. This announcement came during the opening of the Libya Energy and Economic Summit (LEES) 2026 in Tripoli, an event dedicated to fostering energy growth through infrastructure and investment.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the summit has attracted numerous major international oil and gas companies, alongside senior energy and economic officials from various countries. Al-Dbeibeh highlighted that Libya's recent accomplishments include the signing of several agreements and memorandums of understanding, which demonstrate its strong ties with prominent international partners.

Among the significant agreements mentioned by Al-Dbeibeh are a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Chevron to explore potential opportunities in exploration and development, a bilateral oil and gas cooperation MoU with Egypt, and a First Amendment to the re-entry agreement for the Waha concession involving TotalEnergies and ConocoPhillips.

Al-Dbeibeh further explained that these initiatives align with the Libyan national unity government's strategy to boost oil and gas production and broaden investment partnerships. These efforts are aimed at reinforcing economic stability and facilitating national development.
