Kuwait’s Historical Milestones in Diplomacy and Population Growth

Kuwait City: Today marks several significant events in Kuwait's history, showcasing its diplomatic achievements and population growth over the years.

According to Kuwait News Agency, in 1961, the first edition of the daily newspaper "Al-Rai Al-Aam" was published, marking a pivotal moment in Kuwait's media landscape. This publication has since played a vital role in informing and shaping public opinion.

In the year 2000, Kuwait's Amir, Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, was honored with the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Order by Lebanese President Emile Lahoud. This was in recognition of Lebanon's support for Kuwait's causes. Reciprocally, President Lahoud awarded the Amir the Lebanese Order of Merit of the extraordinary grade, acknowledging the supportive stance of Kuwait's government and people towards Lebanon.

By 2006, official statistics from the Public Authority for Civil Information revealed that Kuwait's population had reached one million people, a sevenfold increase since the first census conducted in 1965. This growth reflects the significant demographic changes that have occurred in the nation over the past decades.

In 2010, Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah was awarded the Grand National Order of Merit by French President Nicolas Sarkozy. This honor was in recognition of his efforts in strengthening bilateral relations between Kuwait and France.

In 2017, US Army Ground Forces Commander General Mark A. Milley awarded the Legion of Merit to Kuwaiti Land Forces Chief General Sheikh Khaled Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah. This commendation was given in acknowledgment of his distinguished services and achievements in the military domain.
