Kuwait’s Historical Milestones Highlighted Through Key Developments

Kuwait city: Sheikh Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, serving as the Director of the education department, marked a significant cultural advancement for Kuwait by inaugurating the country's first museum located at Dasman Palace. This institution showcased artifacts from Failaka Island, which were later transferred to the Kuwait National Museum upon its establishment in 1981.

According to Kuwait News Agency, on a pivotal day in 1961, Kuwait Amir Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah took a groundbreaking step by signing a Decree to establish the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development. This was the first development agency of its kind in the Middle East, with an initial capital of KD 50 million. The Fund was created to support developing countries by providing loans and technical assistance aimed at improving their economic conditions.

In 1972, furthering Kuwait's economic and industrial expansion, Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah signed a decree for the establishment of the Arab Maritime Petroleum Transport Company (AMPTC) and its subsidiaries, marking a significant development in the region's maritime and petroleum sectors.

The year 1977 marked a somber moment in Kuwait's history with the passing of its 12th Amir, Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, at the age of 62. Having ascended to leadership on November 24, 1965, he was succeeded by Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, who became Kuwait's 13th Amir.

In 1980, a decree signed by Kuwait Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah introduced regulations concerning state property, placing the responsibility of overseeing state interests in this domain with the Finance Ministry, thereby streamlining administrative oversight of state assets.

Most recently, in 2018, the Kuwait cabinet took a decisive action to promote residential development by approving a reduction in the prices of housing land lots in Mutlaa city. The price was decreased from KD 5,000 to 3,000, an initiative aimed at encouraging citizens to move into and develop new areas of the city.
