In 1931, Kuwait experienced a 4.8-magnitude earthquake with its epicenter located 33 kilometers underground at Boubyan Island. This natural event marked a rare geological occurrence in the region's history.
According to Kuwait News Agency, another pivotal moment occurred in 1958 when Kuwait Amir Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah signed a landmark offshore oil agreement with the Arabian Oil Co. Ltd. This agreement granted the company rights to explore, drill, and store oil in the concession zone for a period of 44.5 years, marking a crucial step in the development of Kuwait's oil industry.
