Jordanian Women Transform Heritage into Economic Empowerment through Culinary Initiative

Jerash: In a unique experience rich in culture and traditions, Jordanian women have created the "Beit Al-Aseilat for home taste food and olive experience" project in Jerash, serving traditional Jordanian food and sweets. Jordanian women have turned their heritage and culture into a sustainable source of income, empowering families and women financially, and play a vital role in boosting tourism as well as Jordan's cultural identity.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the project's manager Noor Banat stated that this initiative represents Arab hospitality in all its forms. The house hosts Arab and foreign visitors alike, as well as locals, and holds rich history and stories dating back to their ancestors. Sanna Hanatle shared that she transformed her home into a productive kitchen, serving popular food including lasagna, which caters not only to foreign visitors but also to Jordanian local families. She highlighted her success in overcoming financial hardships and urged official authorities to support small businesses run by Jordanian women to help families overcome financial challenges and support each other.

Haiffa Mustafa, the supervisor of Beit Al-Aseilat, mentioned that the project, managed by Jordanian women, currently funds more than 20 women. Visitors and guests have the opportunity to participate in making local dishes with them. Head of the Union of Charitable Societies in Jerash Governorate, Zaid Al-Zaboun, affirmed that women in the Jordanian countryside have excelled in their endeavors. He noted the Union's successful experience with these women's projects, adding that government institutions are attempting to encourage such successful experiences, though additional support is needed.

Al-Zaboun emphasized that these achievements were made possible through the strong determination of women and the collaboration between non-governmental organizations and local authorities. He called for a supportive, sustainable environment that would allow rural women to expand their economic and social activities and enhance their leadership role in comprehensive development.
