Kuwaiti Embassy Participates in US Memorial Day Celebrations

Kuwait City: A delegation from the Kuwaiti Embassy in Washington participated in the Memorial Day celebrations on Monday, an occasion to honor American service members who died on duty.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the ceremony was held at Arlington National Cemetery near Washington D.C., where US President Donald Trump addressed the attendees. He highlighted the enduring importance of the sacrifices made by American soldiers, stating, "The sacrifice that they made was not merely for a single battle, a long-ago victory, or a fleeting triumph decades or centuries past. Their sacrifice was for today, tomorrow, and every morning thereafter."

Memorial Day is observed annually on the last Monday in May to honor fallen soldiers from various American wars. The occasion sees the attendance of senior political and military figures, as well as the general public, who gather to pay respects at Arlington National Cemetery, where thousands of American soldiers are buried.

In addition to the cemetery ceremony, military parades are conducted on Constitution Avenue, which runs past the White House. A delegation from the Kuwaiti Embassy was present at these parades, along with other distinguished attendees, including the retired secretary of the Army, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and other senior military and political figures.
