EU Council President Raises Alarm Over Escalating Crisis in Gaza and West Bank

Brussels: EU Council President Antonio Costa has expressed deep concern regarding the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and the increasing violence in the West Bank. This concern was communicated during a phone conversation with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Costa emphasized his support for the United Nations Secretary-General's five-stage humanitarian aid plan for Gaza in a post on X. He highlighted the urgency for the Israeli occupation to lift its blockade on Gaza, advocating for the immediate, safe, and unimpeded entry of humanitarian aid, in line with international law and humanitarian principles. Costa also called for the immediate release of all remaining hostages.

Additionally, Costa reiterated the European Union's steadfast commitment to a two-state solution and expressed his anticipation for the international conference scheduled to take place in New York this June under the auspices of the United Nations.
