Iranian President Calls for Strengthening Ties with Pakistan Across Multiple Sectors

Tehran: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has urged for the expansion of cooperation between Iran and Pakistan, emphasizing the significance of Pakistan as a "neighboring and important country" to Iran.

According to Kuwait News Agency, during a press conference with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Tehran, President Pezeshkian highlighted the necessity of enhancing political, economic, and cultural collaboration between the two nations. He stressed the importance of implementing previously agreed-upon accords to benefit both countries.

President Pezeshkian also expressed Iran's commitment to bolstering security along the shared borders, aiming to counteract groups that threaten this stability. He underscored that security in Pakistan aligns with Iran's supreme interests. Additionally, he welcomed the prospect of a ceasefire and peace between Pakistan and India.

The discussions extended to regional issues, with both leaders addressing the Palestinian situation. President Pezeshkian affirmed that Iran and Pakistan support the Palestinian cause and condemned the ongoing Israeli occupation and the perceived inaction of Western nations regarding these matters.

Prime Minister Sharif reciprocated by advocating for improved Iranian-Pakistani relations. He described the bilateral meeting as "constructive" and expressed Islamabad's intention to forge agreements with Iran in trade and economic sectors. Sharif also reiterated Pakistan's desire for peace and resolution of the Kashmir issue through dialogue and in line with United Nations Security Council resolutions.

Furthermore, Sharif condemned Israeli actions in Gaza and appealed to the international community to leverage its influence to secure a lasting ceasefire.
