Kuwaiti Cabinet Focuses on Rights of Citizenship-Withdrawn Individuals

Kuwait city: The Kuwaiti Cabinet has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a dignified life for individuals whose citizenship has been withdrawn. This was highlighted during a presentation by First Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Fahad Yusuf Saud Al-Sabah at a cabinet meeting chaired by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah at Bayan Palace.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Shereeda Abdullah Al-Mousherji emphasized the government's dedication to preserving certain rights and privileges for these individuals, as outlined in Article 5 of the Amiri Decree No. 15 issued in 1959. The Cabinet has also approved the report from the Supreme Committee for the Investigation of Kuwaiti Citizenship, which addresses the withdrawal and loss of nationality.

The Cabinet was briefed on the upcoming official delegation accompanying His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to Paris. Key figures in the delegation include Minister of Defense Sheikh Abdullah Ali Salem Al-Sabah and Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullah Al-Yahya, among others. Additionally, letters from heads of various countries were reviewed, focusing on enhancing cooperation with Kuwait.

Al-Yahya also updated the Cabinet on the British Foreign Secretary David Lammy's recent visit, which culminated in the signing of three significant agreements as part of the Kuwait-UK strategic dialogue. This dialogue underscores the long-standing collaborative efforts between the two nations.

Further discussions included a presentation by Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy Dr. Subaih Al-Mukhaizim on Kuwait Vision 2035, which aims to transform Kuwait into a financial and commercial hub. Projects like Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port and the New Sabah Hospital are central to this vision.

The Cabinet reviewed and endorsed several items, including bills related to the financial statements of independent budget institutions for FY 2024-2025. These institutions include the Central Bank of Kuwait and the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, among others. Some topics were approved, while others were referred to ministerial committees for further analysis.
