Kuwait Voices Concern Over Humanitarian Situation in Palestine and Golan Heights

Geneva: The permanent delegation of Kuwait to the United Nations in Geneva has expressed Kuwait’s deep concern over the deteriorating health and humanitarian situation in Palestine and the occupied Syrian Golan Heights. This concern was articulated by the Deputy Permanent Representative, Counselor Abdullah Al-Khubaizi, during a committee session addressing the situation in these regions under item 20 of the 78th session of the World Health Assembly.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Al-Khubaizi criticized the continued repressive measures and systematic violations targeting civilians. He highlighted reports from the World Health Organization, which illustrate the significant challenges faced by the Palestinian health sector, exacerbated by an imposed blockade and restrictions on the movement of patients and medical personnel.

Al-Khubaizi condemned the ongoing attacks on health facilities and ambulances, emphasizing that these actions have deprived thousands of civilians of their basic rights to healthcare and unhindered access to services. He underscored Kuwait’s firm stance on the escalation in the Gaza Strip, which has resulted in severe humanitarian and health crises, including mass casualties, the spread of disease, shortages of medicines and supplies, and a near collapse of the health sector.

In addition, Al-Khubaizi stressed the necessity for the WHO to be fully enabled to perform its duties unrestrictedly in the occupied Palestinian territories. He called for the provision of necessary technical and financial support. The World Health Assembly, which is the decision-making body of the WHO, is expected to adopt a draft resolution on the health situation in Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem and the Golan Heights, during its 78th session, which continues until the 27th of this month.
