Jeddah: The 15th General Assembly of the Arab Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ARABOSAI) convened in Jeddah with the participation of President of Kuwait State Audit Bureau (SAB) Essam Al-Roumi. This event gathered heads of Arab supreme audit institutions and representatives of international and regional organizations.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the President of Saudi Arabia's General Court of Audit and ARABOSAI Chair, Dr. Hussam Al-Anqari, emphasized in his opening address the necessity for audit institutions to adopt advanced tools and technologies in response to rapid global developments. This adoption aims to enhance performance and strengthen public financial oversight. He also highlighted the meeting's role in promoting joint action and supporting the organization's regional and international standing.
First Vice President of the Tunisian Court of Accounts and ARABOSAI Deputy Secretary-General, Fadhila Gargouri, pointed out the organization's recent efforts to enhance cooperation among member institutions. She emphasized the importance of expanding partnerships with the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) to advance audit quality in Arab countries.
President of Egypt's Central Auditing Organization and INTOSAI Counselor, Mohammad Al-Faisal, noted that the assembly serves as a platform showcasing Arab cooperation in public auditing. He commended ARABOSAI's efforts in maintaining programs and partnerships, highlighting the success of the Arab Auditor Fellowship Program as a model for capacity development.
Kuwait's Consul General in Jeddah, Yousef Al-Tunaib, and diplomatic attache Abdullah Al-Wiqayan, were also present at the opening. The three-day assembly will focus on strengthening cooperation among member institutions and improving audit performance.
The assembly will conclude with the 70th Executive Council session, addressing matters related to ARABOSAI's activities and future programs. Established in 1976, ARABOSAI works to promote transparency and accountability across the Arab region and strengthen cooperation between member institutions and INTOSAI.
