Key Historical Events in Kuwait’s Diplomatic and Broadcasting History

Kuwait city: The history of Kuwait is marked by several significant events that have shaped its diplomatic and media landscape. Notably, during the era of Kuwait's Amir Sheikh Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Al-Aqeer treaty was signed with Najd's Sultan Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman bin Al-Saud, focusing on the demarcation of borders.

According to Kuwait News Agency, in 1961, two crucial diplomatic appointments were made by Kuwait Amir Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah. Abdulaziz Hussein was appointed as Kuwait Ambassador to the United Arab Republic, and he presented his credentials to Egyptian President Jamal AbdulNasser in Cairo on December 20. In the same year, Abdulrahman Al-Atiqi was named as the Kuwaiti Ambassador to the United States of America.

Kuwait Television Channel 2 commenced its broadcasting in 1979, initially offering programs in both Arabic and English for four hours a day. Over time, the channel transitioned to broadcasting entirely in English.

In 1991, a significant decree was issued by Kuwait Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah to form the Supreme Consultancy Committee. This committee was tasked with completing the implementation of Islamic Sharia law.

The export sector also saw growth in 1997 when EQUATE Petrochemical Company exported its first shipment of ethylene glycol to Europe, marking a milestone in the country's chemical industry.

In 2007, Sheikh Salman Al-Humoud Al-Sabah was elected unopposed as the chairman of the Asian Shooting Confederation's General Assembly for a second consecutive term, highlighting Kuwait's influence in the regional sports arena.
