Kuwait Reaffirms Commitment to UN Peacekeeping Efforts

Kuwait city: Kuwait has reiterated its steadfast support for the United Nations' initiatives aimed at enhancing and maintaining international peace and security. Diplomatic Attach© Jana Al-Dufairi delivered Kuwait's address at the UN Fourth Committee session, themed "Comprehensive review of the whole question of peacekeeping operations," emphasizing the nation's appreciation for the UN missions' efforts to sustain peace.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Al-Dufairi highlighted Kuwait's dedication by noting its history of hosting the UN mission to oversee the Kuwait-Iraq border for over a decade, until 2003. This action underscored Kuwait's belief in the effectiveness of peacekeeping forces as a preventive strategy to assist countries transitioning from conflict to lasting peace.

Furthermore, Al-Dufairi reaffirmed Kuwait's support for the UN's 80th initiative, emphasizing the need for adequate funding, enhanced technical capabilities, and improved training and rehabilitation standards. She also mentioned Kuwait's role in the extraordinary session of the Arab Summit in March, which advocated for the deployment of international peacekeeping troops in the occupied Palestinian territories and the West Bank, in accordance with a UN resolution.

Al-Dufairi also conveyed Kuwait's condemnation of the Israeli occupation's attacks on southern Lebanon, describing them as violations of Lebanon's sovereignty and international legitimacy resolutions, particularly UN Resolution No. 1701.
