Kuwait city: The State of Kuwait is making significant strides in youth empowerment through the adoption of a national vision that places young individuals at the core of sustainable development. This strategic approach aims to provide the youth with the necessary tools to shape the future effectively.
According to Kuwait News Agency, since the launch of the New Kuwait 2035 strategy, Kuwait has been actively focusing on empowering youth as a crucial pathway to progress. This comprehensive strategy aims to reform education, promote innovation, create a supportive environment for startups, and expand youth engagement in cultural and political activities.
The plan emphasizes the involvement of national institutions, particularly those engaged in culture, arts, and social empowerment, to build a more enlightened and productive society. The National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL) has played a pivotal role in fostering cultural values and national identity among the youth since its establishment in 1973.
NCCAL Secretary General Dr. Mohammad Al-Jassar reiterated the council's commitment to prioritizing youth issues, emphasizing that investing in young people is an investment in the nation's progress. The council has organized numerous activities to enhance artistic and cultural skills, including courses, voluntary programs, and other initiatives aimed at increasing employment opportunities.
Furthermore, initiatives have been launched to support talented youth in theater, fine arts, writing, and publishing, encouraging their participation in local and international festivals. The council also promotes youth involvement in cultural magazines and employs digital platforms to align with the interests of the new generation.
In 2015, Kuwait established the Public Authority for Youth to guide young individuals toward creativity and positive community participation. According to Nasser Al-Sheikh, Director General of the authority, it has become a vital national foundation for empowering Kuwaiti youth across various development fields.
The authority manages nine centers that offer programs in arts, sports, business leadership, technology, and voluntary action, nurturing thousands of young nationals annually. Plans are underway to expand with the addition of seven youth centers from the Public Housing Authority between 2026 and 2027.
New specialized youth centers are being established in Jaber Al-Ali, Sabah Al-Salem, and Abdullah Al-Mubarak, along with the Kuwait Technological Center for Business Leadership in collaboration with Boeing Airlines in Mubarak Al-Abdullah. Al-Sheikh highlighted upcoming projects in the creative economy, digital arts, artificial intelligence, and communal business leadership, aiming to boost professional and economic empowerment among Kuwaiti youth.
During the World Youth Day festival on August 12, Minister of Information and Culture, and Minister of State for Youth Affairs, Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, unveiled the new strategy for the youth authority for the 2025-2030 period. This strategy focuses on leadership, employment, business leadership, communal engagement, culture, innovation, creativity, health, prosperity, governance, and resource enhancement.
