Al-ahmadi: The opening of the Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) AI Creativity Center is part of a significant transformative strategy by the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC), as stated by Oil Minister Tareq Al-Roumi. The minister, who also serves as the KPC Chairman, shared that the initiative aims to integrate AI technology with oil fields to enhance production, operational capacity, and cost efficiency.
According to Kuwait News Agency, KPC CEO Sheikh Nawaf Saud Al-Nasser Al-Sabah highlighted that the center would significantly reduce the time needed for drilling operations, leading to increased operational efficiency. He emphasized that AI technology would complement human expertise rather than replace it, as human analysis is vital for interpreting AI-generated data.
Sheikh Nawaf also mentioned Kuwait's current production level of 2.54 million barrels per day, which aligns with the OPEC+ alliance quotas. He outlined future plans to boost production capacity to four million barrels per day by 2035.
KOC CEO Ahmad Al-Eidan described the AI center as a strategic component of the company's vision, aligning with Kuwait's broader plans for digital transformation in the energy sector. Al-Eidan detailed the company's collaboration with Microsoft, which extends beyond a technical partnership to include a comprehensive system integrating creativity, local expertise, and global best practices.
The collaboration has led to innovations such as smart oil wells that utilize precise data and production metrics, streamlining the processes of oil extraction and production. Al-Eidan projected that the AI Creativity Center would become a pivotal element in Kuwait's energy industry over the coming decades and reaffirmed the ongoing commitment to invest in developing national talent and youth.
The ceremony was attended by notable figures including Minister of State for Communication Affairs Omar Al-Omar and Director General of the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority (KDIPA) Dr. Sheikh Meshaal Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.
