Kuwait City: Kuwait's Ministry of Interior arrested a gang implicated in an armed robbery incident at a currency exchange office in the Al-Mahboula area, taking a sum of foreign currencies estimated at KD 4,600 (USD 16,500). The arrest highlights the ministry's ongoing efforts to combat crime and ensure public safety.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the Ministry explained that this was a premeditated crime as the gang, of African nationality, had been watching the office from rooftops of nearby buildings. To execute the robbery, they used metal plates to cover their car plates, complicating the investigation and attempting to avoid detection.
Efforts of detectives led to locating one of the suspects who confessed to having monitored the office. He notified his partner, who was later detained in the Aswaq Al-Qurain area. This breakthrough in the investigation was crucial in piecing together the crime and apprehending those involved.
In the suspect's residence, detectives found the stolen sums as well as a bag of meth, which added a layer of complexity to the case. The discovery of the drugs suggests potential links to wider criminal activities beyond the robbery itself.
The Ministry affirmed that the two suspects were referred to the public prosecution for legal action, ensuring that they face the full extent of the law. This development is part of a broader strategy by the authorities to maintain law and order in the region.
