Kuwait city: The Kuwaiti Ministry of Health has successfully installed 20 Automated External Defibrillators (AED) at Kuwait International Airport. These devices have been placed across terminals T1, T4, and T5, as well as the Airport Health Center, under the guidance of the Public Health Sector, according to the ministry's spokesperson, Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Dr. Al-Sanad emphasized that this initiative is part of the ministry's commitment to enhancing preparedness and ensuring rapid emergency response in densely populated vital locations. The initiative focuses on boosting public safety and improving the capacity to handle emergency health incidents, especially sudden cardiac arrests.
Dr. Al-Sanad explained that the AED is a crucial tool, enabling trained individuals, even non-specialists, to provide immediate intervention with the help of integrated audio and visual instructions. The ministry has also introduced a specialized training program to equip airport staff with the necessary skills to use the AEDs effectively. This training, conducted in coordination with relevant authorities, aims to ensure swift response and high-quality performance during critical, life-threatening situations.
The Ministry of Health expressed gratitude to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for its support in providing the infrastructure needed to distribute the devices and backing health initiatives with social impact. Dr. Al-Sanad highlighted that the initiative is based on international scientific research, which indicates that using AEDs within the initial minutes of cardiac arrest can increase survival rates by up to 70 percent, as quick access and activation are vital for successful rescue outcomes.
This effort aligns with the Ministry of Health's vision to promote prevention and community protection, reflecting the practical implementation of the national strategy, "Human First," by enabling immediate life-saving interventions in public spaces and enhancing the capabilities of frontline personnel at key locations.
