Washington: Kuwait has pledged a substantial contribution of USD one billion to support the Gaza Board of Peace, as announced by Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Jarrah Al-Sabah. The announcement underscores Kuwait's commitment to aiding efforts aimed at alleviating the suffering of the Palestinian people and restoring stability to the Gaza Strip.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Sheikh Jarrah Al-Sabah made this announcement during the inaugural meeting of the Board, which was presided over by US President Donald Trump. The Kuwaiti Foreign Minister emphasized Kuwait's enduring support for the Palestinian cause, describing it as a cornerstone of the country's foreign policy. He reiterated Kuwait's backing for initiatives promoting peace, including President Trump's 20-point plan.
Sheikh Jarrah Al-Sabah expressed appreciation for President Trump's endeavors to establish an independent Palestinian state based on the June 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, aligning with international resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative. He emphasized the importance of international solidarity for the success of these peace efforts.
The Board meeting, hosted in Washington, included participation from member states, with Kuwait playing a significant role. Discussions during the meeting focused on reconstruction efforts in Gaza, governance, security frameworks, and humanitarian aid following the ceasefire agreement.
