Kuwait Amir Reaffirms GCC Unity as Key Deterrent Against Regional Challenges

Manama: The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has consistently relied on unity as a proven policy to deter challenges and achieve mutual benefits for countries in the region, stated His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

According to Kuwait News Agency, His Highness delivered his remarks at the 46th GCC Summit held in Manama, Bahrain. He emphasized that the Gulf countries, through the awareness and vigilance of their people, have successfully navigated complex regional and international challenges. His Highness highlighted that stability, ensured through collective security and a unified destiny, is essential for peace in the region. He noted that the previous 45th session of the GCC, chaired by Kuwait, addressed challenges and focused on enhancing cooperation among the council's members and regional and international partners.

His Highness congratulated King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa and Bahrain for hosting the current GCC session, expressing confidence that the Kingdom would further enhance cooperation among the six member countries. Additionally, he congratulated Bahrain on becoming a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for 2026-27, reflecting its strong international presence in promoting global peace and security.

Addressing regional and international issues, His Highness condemned the Israeli occupation's aggression against the State of Qatar, viewing it as an assault on the entire GCC. He also expressed condemnation of the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people, emphasizing the need to end the occupation and establish a Palestinian state within the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in line with international efforts aimed at the two-state solution and ending the aggression on the Gaza Strip.

Furthermore, His Highness vowed Kuwait's commitment to continue working with Iraq to complete the marine boundary demarcation beyond mark 162, based on mutual agreements and in accordance with international law and the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

His Highness also expressed appreciation for GCC Secretary General Jassem Al-Budaiwi and the staff at the GCC Secretariat, acknowledging their dedication. He concluded his speech by reiterating gratitude towards Bahrain for hosting the current session of the GCC.
