KOC Unveils AI Innovation Center to Boost Oil Sector Efficiency

Kuwait city: The launching by Kuwait Oil Company of its Artificial Intelligence Innovation Center (AIIC) marked a significant step in the digital transformation of Kuwait's oil sector. The Center, supported by the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority (KDIPA), aims to stay aligned with global technological trends by leveraging AI to reduce costs, ensure quality, and expedite decision-making processes.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the inauguration of AIIC took place on August 7, 2025, under the auspices of Minister of Oil Tarek Suleiman Al-Roumi. The event was a collaborative effort involving Microsoft, Halliburton Co, and Ghaia.ai, as stated by KOC's CEO Ahmad Jaber Al-Eidan. The Center, supervised by KOC's division of south and east Kuwait, signifies a new phase in Kuwait's journey towards digital transformation.

AIIC is part of KOC's strategic partnership with Microsoft, Halliburton, and Ghaia.ai, which specializes in autonomous AI systems (Agentic AI). Ghaia.ai, serving as a strategic partner of Microsoft, manages the AIIC through its G Agen platform. Al-Eidan highlighted that G Agen facilitates collaboration between digital agents and humans, enhancing KOC's operating capacity and decision-making process across various sectors.

Agentic AI, a pioneering project in autonomous AI systems, is designed to operate with minimal human intervention. It aims to boost KOC's data analysis capabilities and support the objectives of Kuwait Vision 2035. The AIIC is expected to guide the development of Kuwait's oil sector by keeping pace with global innovations.

Naim Yazbeck, president of Microsoft Middle East and Africa, commented on KOC's ambitious vision for the future of Kuwait's energy sector. He emphasized Microsoft's commitment to developing national skills and leading the digital transformation in the oil sector. Yazbeck expressed pride in the partnership with KOC, describing the AIIC as more than just a training center, but an integrated platform for innovation.

The Center is seen as a strategic pillar in achieving enhanced operating capacity, providing smart energy solutions, and meeting Kuwait's unique aspirations.
