Riyadh: Secretary-General of the King Abdulaziz Center for Cultural Communication (KACCC), Dr. Abdullah Al-Fawzan, emphasized the significance of the Cabinet's endorsement of a draft agreement between the Government of Saudi Arabia and UNESCO for the creation of the Regional Center for Dialogue and Peace under UNESCO's auspices. This initiative illustrates Saudi Arabia's dedication to fostering a culture of dialogue and understanding among nations, as well as promoting peace and coexistence.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Dr. Al-Fawzan stated that the center will act as a vital platform for regional and global collaboration, aiding in capacity development and disseminating UNESCO's mission of fostering peace among diverse cultures. He remarked that the center's objective is to enhance a culture of dialogue and peace within the Arab region through capacity building efforts. This includes the provision of specialized training programs, the execution of studies and research, and the facilitation of knowledge sharing.
Dr. Al-Fawzan further explained that these initiatives will contribute to the spread of tolerance and mutual understanding, while simultaneously supporting regional and international peacebuilding and coexistence efforts. The formation of the center highlights Saudi Arabia's role in backing civilizational dialogue initiatives, strengthening partnerships with international bodies, aiding the fulfillment of relevant Sustainable Development Goals, and furthering UNESCO's mission of cultivating peace among cultures.
