Iraqi Court Delays Appeals on Khor Abdullah Agreement to July 30

Baghdad: Iraq's Federal Supreme Court has postponed its review of appeals submitted by Iraqi President Abdullatif Rashid and Prime Minister Mohammad Al-Sudani concerning the Khor Abdullah agreement with Kuwait to July 30.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the court's schedule indicates that these sessions will be conducted as postponed sessions without pleadings. President Rashid and Prime Minister Al-Sudani initiated separate appeals against a Federal Supreme Court decision that declared an agreement regulating navigation in the Khor Abdullah waterway between Baghdad and Kuwait unconstitutional. In September 2023, Iraq's Federal Supreme Court ruled the bilateral navigation agreement unconstitutional, a decision that Kuwait criticized for containing "historical fallacies".
