Iraqi and Kurdish Leaders Condemn Clashes in Al-Sulaimaniya

Baghdad: The Presidency of the Republic of Iraq and the Presidency of the Kurdistan Region expressed their disapproval of the recent armed clashes in Al-Sulaimaniya Governorate that occurred from Thursday night into Friday morning.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the Iraqi Presidency issued a statement expressing concern over the incidents in Al-Sulaimaniya, which resulted in the deaths of several security personnel and injuries to others. The statement emphasized the importance of exercising self-restraint, adhering to legal and judicial measures as outlined in the constitution, and avoiding violence.

The Iraqi News Agency reported a statement from the Kurdistan Region, emphasizing the importance of adhering to the law and ensuring the safety of the province's residents. The statement also urged the resolution of disputes through legal and peaceful means.

Earlier reports from medical sources indicated that seven gunmen were killed and 30 others injured in the clashes in Al-Sulaimaniya. The violence concluded with the detention of Sheikh Lahor Jangi Talabani, leader of the People's Front Party, and several of his associates. The clashes involved his followers and personnel from the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan.
