Kuwait city: Britain's air defences are set to receive a significant boost with the acquisition of six new surface-to-air Land Ceptor missile systems, at a cost of GBP 118 million (USD 159.6 million), as announced by the Ministry of Defence on Friday. These systems will become a part of Sky Sabre, a defence mechanism designed to intercept cruise missiles, aircraft, and drones.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the new systems are highly precise, capable of striking an object the size of a tennis ball traveling at twice the speed of sound. This advanced technology can also manage the flight of 24 missiles simultaneously, directing each to intercept separate targets concurrently.
The UK is doubling the number of deployable Sky Sabre systems operated by the Armed Forces as part of an initiative to enhance the nation's air defences.
