Baghdad: Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Al-Sudani announced that regional and international cooperation has successfully dismantled numerous drug-trafficking networks and led to the seizure of tons of narcotics. He emphasized the importance of continued collaboration and the use of advanced tools to combat drug-related issues.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Al-Sudani made these remarks at the opening of the Third Baghdad International Conference on Drug Control. The conference, held under the slogan "Hand in Hand, We Combat Drugs," saw participation from delegations of 12 countries, including Kuwait.
Al-Sudani highlighted his government's efforts to strengthen cooperation and coordination with other nations. These collaborative efforts have resulted in the dismantling of several drug networks, the arrest of key individuals, and the discovery of drug-production sites. The total amount of seized narcotics has reached approximately six tons.
Al-Sudani stressed the significant challenges faced by all countries in combating drug trafficking. He called for coordinated actions to eliminate risks by developing response methods, adopting technological advancements, and implementing modern strategies. He also underscored the importance of allocating necessary budgets to protect societies.
The conference is set to continue until tomorrow, with Kuwait represented by Colonel Abdulaziz Al-Uqaili, Colonel Nasser Badr, and Lieutenant Colonel Nasser Ahmad.
