Interior Ministry Uncovers Network Facilitating Illegal Residency Permits

Kuwait city: The Ministry of Interior has announced the discovery of an organized network involved in facilitating illegal residency permits in exchange for money, forging official documents, and exploiting incorrect data in work permits. This announcement follows directives from First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yusuf Saud Al-Sabah.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the incident came to light after a complaint was filed by a resident who claimed to have paid KD 650 to an individual of the same nationality to obtain a residency permit. Investigations revealed that the accused, who admitted to receiving the money, is associated with 11 companies employing 162 workers.

In the course of the investigation, several workers on the company records confessed to paying between KD 500 and KD 900 for residency permits. Additional payments of KD 60 to KD 70 were made by some individuals to falsify salary data on work permits to secure family residency permits.

Further inquiries led to the summoning of a citizen serving as an authorized signatory for the 11 companies. The individual admitted to receiving monthly payments ranging from KD 500 to KD 600. The Ministry confirmed that 12 suspects have been referred to the Public Prosecution, with ongoing investigations, arrests, and inspections of the companies involved.
