New delhi: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday met and held discussions with several heads of states and governments who are in New Delhi to participate in the India AI Impact Summit 2026.
According to Kuwait News Agency, a statement from the Prime Minister's Office said that Modi held extensive discussions with the Prime Minister of Finland, Petteri Orpo. During the meeting, Modi expressed gratitude to the Finnish Prime Minister for his personal support towards the India-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA), which is set to usher in a new era in India-Europe relations. The two leaders discussed plans to double trade, thereby strengthening economic linkages, and explored avenues for cooperation in futuristic technologies such as 6G, innovation, clean energy, biofuels, and the circular economy.
In addition, Modi engaged in comprehensive talks with the President of Spain, Pedro Sanchez, in New Delhi. Discussions centered around bolstering the India-Spain friendship, specifically in defense, security, and technology sectors. The newly established FTA with the EU is anticipated to enhance the economic partnership with Spain and generate fresh opportunities for citizens of both countries.
The Indian Prime Minister also held talks with the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, focusing on deepening collaboration in defense, manufacturing, digital public infrastructure (DPI), fertilizers, and infrastructure sectors.
Furthermore, Modi conducted extensive discussions with French President Emmanuel Macron, resulting in the signing of 20 agreements aimed at strengthening bilateral ties. Modi is also slated to meet other leaders, including Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, in the coming days.
