Moscow: The Russian Presidency (Kremlin) announced that the latest round of peace talks on Ukraine, held in Geneva, were challenging but conducted in a businesslike manner. They urged patience until the discussions are complete before drawing any conclusions.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov mentioned that President Vladimir Putin is receiving direct briefings on the negotiation process. However, it is deemed premature to evaluate the outcomes until the talks conclude. Peskov emphasized Russia's preference not to disclose detailed discussions from the negotiation rooms.
Russian lead negotiator Vladimir Medinsky, who serves as Presidential Aide and head of the Russian delegation, characterized the discussions as serious and constructive. He indicated that another round of talks is anticipated in the near future.
The talks, which are mediated by the United States and involve Ukrainian representatives, form part of ongoing diplomatic efforts to achieve a peaceful resolution to the conflict initiated by Russia's 2022 invasion.
The Russian Foreign Ministry commented on the international security situation, stating that it has reached a dangerous stage. The ministry noted that the conclusion of the "New START" treaty has contributed to heightened tensions.
